David Coyle first arrived in Thailand in 2004 after being appointed as General Manager of the Pacific International Resort and Spa in Thalang, Phuket (now operating as “At Panta Resort and Spa”). His employment history spans back to 1989 when he started in the Hospitality Industry as a Porter on a small island resort in the Whitsunday Island off the Queensland coast of Australia. His passion for the industry soon developed and installed in him an ambition to one day become a General Manager of a Hotel or Resort. After working his way through every department within various Corporate Hotels and Leisure Resorts, David was appointed General Manager of the Award Winning Boutique property – The Hotel Lindrum at the age of 30. Being the youngest ever appointed GM in Melbourne, David took The Hotel Lindrum to the National Awards and won the coveted “National Award for Best Superior Hotel” in Australia. David furthered his career by accepting a position with “Peppers Hotel and Resorts” as General Manager of the elite Peppers Palm Bay Resort, his last position before heading to Asia and ultimately making Thailand his new home. After working for International Hotel Chains such as Hyatt Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts, Pacific International Hotels and Ramada Hotels, David founded HMS Asia Pacific with his joint Managing Director Ms Belynda Steer.
Belynda first discovered her passion for the Tourism Industry when working for Hertz Australia, the worlds leading car Rental Company. After successfully managing a major Hertz outlet for many years, Belynda decided to vary her experience and join her family owned and operated wine export business. She first made a name for herself in the South Australian Wine Industry by buying, selling and marketing Australian alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and wine in the UK, Malaysia and China during the early 1990’s. Her success there prompted her to study for a Diploma in International Business, Trade and Commerce with the Australian Institute of Export. While studying she simultaneously occupied roles in the family business which represented the small to medium Australian manufacturer and wine companies looking to expand their product into the International market. Belynda took control of Intertrade Pty Ltd in 1996 as Managing Director and under her direction and with a great deal of enthusiasm she drove its creative marketing team to successfully place some of Australia and New Zealand’s most respected and sort after wines in the world market.
In 2002 she sold the business and continued in a consultant capacity primarily between Wine manufacturers and Hospitality consumer, mainly being Hotels, Resorts, Wine Bars and other Hospitality related outlets. Her passion for the Hospitality Industry saw Belynda relocate to Phuket in 2006 to join David in founding HMS Asia Pacific.
